Basketball

My team was undefeated during the season of winter Y basketball. On my team were: Jentry, Hayes, Averi, Abbey, Jaylyn, Caysie, Trinity, and myself. We won all 6 of our games and most of them were by about 20 points. Our closest win was a win by 9. As of now, throughout our summer softball, Jr, High basketball, and winter Y ball, we've been undefeated. I love playing basketball and I'm so proud of how we work together and play as a team. I'm excited to see what the future holds for us and hope to see us at State one year. I think we have a lot of potential to be a good team and go really far. Varsity basketball will be a lot of fun and I'm so excited. It's going to be different having a new coach, but I think that Mr. Case can show us things that we will really benefit from. One thing I can say though, is that our team next year and the year after that will be better than the Varsity team this year. I can't wait!

Thanksgiving Break

Today is our first day back at school since last Tuesday. We had a 5 day weekend because it was Thanksgiving break. Thursday I had a Thanksgiving dinner at my Nana's house which is my mom's mom. We didn't have your traditional turkey, we decided to switch it up and have a Mexican themed dinner. The only people there were: my mom, dad, Uncle Cody, Nana, Papa, my Great Aunt Karen, and her granddaughter, Trinity.  We had a fun time watching home movies and telling stories. Everyone left at about 5:00. Karen and Trinity went home, but the rest of us went to Chillicothe Walmart to go Black Friday shopping. It was CRAZY! There were so many people there, I could hardly move, but we had fun and got some good deals. Friday afternoon I went to my grandma and Theresa's house for Thanksgiving on my dad's side. We ate turkey, ham, and other delicious food. I enjoyed spending time with them. On Saturday morning, we went to the Community Hall for another dinner. This one is always our biggest dinner with quite a few people we only see once a year. Our two main things we had to eat were turkey and ribs, along with a lot of sides. When my nana was cooking the sweet potatoes, she took them out of the oven when she thought they were done. Well, she decided that the marshmallows on top needed to be browner, so she put them back in the oven and turned it on broil so they would brown quickly. After that, she continued to make other food. A little while later, someone yelled "WHAT IS ON FIRE?!" We all immediately ran over to the oven and swung it open. Smoke rolled out and the marshmallows were as black as coal. Everyone about died laughing after that and we had to open the door to get the smoke out. I had a really fun time catching up with my family.

1st place game

Last week was the conference tournament here, at Hale. On Saturday, we played for 1st place and the boys played for 3rd place. My team had to be at the school at 3:30 so we could spend time practicing and preparing ourselves for the game. At 5:00 the boys started their game against Southwest for 3rd place. The girls only got to watch the first quarter, but the boys played good. We got to come back out and watch the very end of the game and it was really close! They only ended up losing by 2 points. After the boys' game, it was time for us to start warming up. We were going to be playing our rival, Tina Avalon. At the beginning, the score was really close and at the end of the first quarter, I think it was 6-2. In the second half of the game we played really good and pulled way ahead in score. We kept our momentum going and played really good as a team. I don't remember what the final score was, but I think we won by about 20 points. I am so proud of all of my teammates and happy that we got first place! (It makes it even better that we battled TA for first place and beat them!)

Tonight we play Northwestern at home, and then Tuesday we play Tina Avalon again, but we play them at TA. I hope that we have an undefeated season! As of now, we haven't lost a game and I want to keep it that way!

Easter Weekend

This past weekend was really fun because it was 4 and a half days. It was also Easter weekend so that made it special. Thursday was a half day and after school I went to Hayes's house with Ethan, and Kati was going to come later. That day we went to the park, did the polar plunge, and had a lot of fun. Kati didn't come until around 10:00 P.M but we still had a really fun night after she got there. Friday everyone went home. After Jamie got off of work, Mom, Jamie, and I all went to Chillicothe so Jamie could get some Easter stuff. I thought a trip to Chillicothe with just the two of them would be boring, but actually we all had a good time. Saturday we had Easter at my nana's house with my mom's side of the family. It was so much fun! I absolutely love being with my family because we always have a good time and share lots of laughs. We were supposed to have an Easter egg hunt that day, but it got dark before we could have it, so we put it off until the next day. Joey, Olivia, and I stayed the night at Nana's house that night, and Matt and Jamie came back over to her house on Sunday so we could have the Easter egg hunt. I've gotten to help hide the Easter eggs for the past couple years, and this year we had 150 eggs to fill with candy and hide! Needless to say, it took a while to hide and fill them, but it was all worth it because it was fun. Later that day, we had fun dying Easter eggs. Sunday night everyone went home and that night we had a campfire outside. Mom, Dad, and I roasted hot dogs, marshmallows and made s'mores. It was so nice outside! Monday was kinda a lazy day for my family. We were pretty tired from all of the Easter stuff we had been doing, so on Monday we just watched T.V and relaxed. This morning (on Tuesday) I was not ready to come to school because I was sad that our long weekend was over. At least that means the school year is close to being over!

Map Testing

As all of you may know, MAP testing is getting really close. It has already started for some of the classes, but it starts for the 7th graders next week. It is kind of scary because the MAP test is usually pretty hard. For the last two weeks we did Buckle Down in math and we have been doing some review in English. The only good thing about the week (or weeks, I don't really know) of MAP testing is we don't have very much homework. Last year I got advanced on the MAP test, so this year I was part of the group that got to go bowling. Mrs. Burnside takes the kids that got advanced on the MAP test the previous year bowling. Next year she is going to try to get tickets to a Royals game. I think that would be really cool to go to, so I hope I get advanced next year too. I also hope that my whole class gets advanced too because if we all do, then Mrs. Worman is going to take us to Worlds of Fun. It's going to be really hard for all 16 of us to get advanced, but I hope everyone tries their hardest. If we are really lucky, we will all be at Worlds of Fun together!

Last night

Last night I had to go to the Community Hall for the Patriots Pen thing that I won. They had a little ceremony with some veterans there and I got my $25 prize and a certificate. Marissa and I both went since we won first and second. I was really nervous because I thought I was going to have to read my Patriots Pen speech in front of everyone there. It turns out that I didn't have to and I was so relieved! After they passed out the certificates and money and took pictures, they had refreshments for everyone. There wasn't very much there, just some sandwiches, chips, brownies, cookies, and pop. It was kinda awkward being there because I'm a little shy and the veterans kept wanting to talk to me. I talked to them so I wouldn't seem rude, but I felt weird because I didn't really know what to say. I felt a lot better when we left.

Senior Night

Last night was senior night at Hale. I'm sad that it was the senior's last home game and their basketball season is almost over. In between the girls and boys game was when the seniors walked out with their parents and everything. At halftime of the boys game was when the cheerleaders danced. Now about the basketball games- our girls lost HORRIBLY to Mercer. The Mercer girls are really good, and almost all of them are ninth graders! I think the score of the girls game was 29 to 61. The boys game was closer than I expected, but we still lost. The score was close throughout the game and I think we ended up losing by 6. I have never seen one team shoot and make so many threes as the Mercer boys!
I hope we do good in Districts!!
